A great recipe for when you want a bowl of humble oatmeal to feel luxurious. Oats are toasted in butter before stirring in the milk to add a nutty flavour and then topped with honey vanilla poached pears.


1 pear

4 tbsp honey

35 +10 gm butter (small cubes)

1 tsp of cinnamon

1 tsp vanilla bean paste

1 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup of oat flour

1 cup of milk

2 cup water

1 tsp salt

2 tbsp chopped almonds (toasted)



1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C. Peel the pear and slice it in quarters. and place it in a baking dish with 2 tbsp of honey, 35 gm butter, vanilla and cinnamon. Toss everything together and bake for 20-25 minutes until the fruit is tender

2. Melt 10 gm butter in a pan and add oats and oat flour to it. Stir for five minutes until golden brown and it starts giving off a nutty aroma.

3. Bring water and milk to a boil on low simmer. Add salt and stir. Transfer the milk mixture to the toasted oats and simmer for 20 minutes gently stirring it until 70% of the liquid has been soaked.

4. Spoon the oats in bowls and place the pears on top. Drizzle with honey and top with toasted almonds.
