It’s been a while since our last coffee talk and I feel like we are due for a proper catch up. Last two months were a blur of baking, packing and shipping to all our wonderful customers across the country. It was such a fun and hectic time that we are still trying to catch our breath. Christmas is around the corner and we are already elbow deep in making all kinds of wonderful holiday treats and dressing them up in cheerful packaging.
So, that has been the fun part of running this lovely business. The not so fun part happened around mid October when I caught Dengue fever right in the middle of a massive order and we found ourselves short staffed and wholly unprepared without a backup plan in place. I do all the baking while Neha handles the business end of things so suddenly there was no one to take over the kitchen. Our entire production, albeit a small one, came to a screeching halt while we braced ourselves for the worst. We were frantically looking around for chefs, culinary students, baking enthusiasts (basically anyone who had a little knowledge about the process and was willing to follow instructions) but had zero luck finding one. And then, a chef friend kindly stepped in to save our butts and order was restored again!
I can’t stress enough on how crucial it is to have a supportive group of people cheering you on when you are growing your business and honestly, we won’t be able to do what we do if it weren’t for our amazing family and friends. Keep that in mind, all you budding entrepreneurs. Also, always have a few extra hands rather than assuming you can do everything yourself because sometimes you can get sick and then ultimately, your business suffers. Currently, we are in the process of hiring some great people to join us in the kitchen. Fingers crossed, we find someone efficient soon.
December is shaping up to be a busy month with a slurry of personal and corporate orders and I am so happy that we are closing the year on a happy note. We have so many exciting plans for 2017 and I can’t wait to share them with you in a few months. Meanwhile, I hope all of you enjoy the holidays and keep an eye out for a few fun holiday posts we will be posting soon.
